The Dalmore Cigar Malt (also known as The Dalmore Cigar Malt Reserve) is a non-age-statement Highland single malt Scotch whisky. It’s matured in a trio of casks: American white oak ex-bourbon barrels, Matusalem Oloroso sherry butts, and premier cru Cabernet Sauvignon wine barriques. Bottled at
44% ABV, it is crafted to deliver depth and complexity that stands up well alongside cigar smoke.
Tasting Notes:
-
Appearance: Deep golden to mahogany amber, with warm hues and a rich sheen.
-
Aroma: Ample sherry-influenced dried fruits (raisins, figs), red fruits, vanilla, cinnamon, toffee, and a hint of spicy oak.
-
Palate: Smooth and indulgent; tropical fruits, banana-toffee, vanilla ice cream, caramel, dark chocolate, plus wine barrique complexity.
-
Finish: Long-to-medium finish with orange zest, dark chocolate, crushed spices, and lingering oak and sherry tones.
-
ABV: 44%
Serving Suggestions:
Best enjoyed neat or with a tiny drop of water to wrestle out the deeper fruit and sherry layers. Ideal with a richer cigar one with dark wrapper and robust flavor so that neither whisky nor smoke overwhelms. Use a tulip-shaped glass or Glencairn to capture the aroma. Also shines as an after-dinner dram, possibly with bittersweet chocolate or orange zest.
