Grant’s is a blended Scotch whisky made by William Grant & Sons in Scotland. First introduced in 1887, it combines grain whisky from the Girvan distillery with a selection of malt whiskies to create a well-rounded, affordable blend. Bottled at 40% ABV, this version (375 ml) is the standard “Family Reserve” or “Triple Wood” style used for everyday enjoying rather than extended aging or rare finishes.
Tasting Notes:
-
Appearance: Golden amber; light and clear with subtle viscosity.
-
Aroma: Ripe pear, summer fruits (apple, peach), light malt, vanilla sweetness, gentle oak.
-
Palate: Smooth and fruity; vanilla and honey tones with malt breadiness, soft floral hints, a mild spice (nutmeg or light oak spice) underneath.
-
Finish: Long, sweet, lingering; the vanilla and fruit fade gracefully, with a faint peat or smoke trace in some bottles depending on blend.
-
ABV: 40%
Serving Suggestions:
Serve neat or with a single large ice cube to calm the edges. Works well in mixers: a simple highball or whisky & soda; also decent in classic cocktails like a Rob Roy or Whisky Sour if you want contrast. Pair with mild cheeses, grilled meats, or sweet desserts that complement the vanilla and fruit notes.
